Activity Broadcast – turn yours off and tweak your Linkedin profile without announcing every change to the world
Many of the emails you receive announcing updates to your connections’ profiles are down to “Activity Broadcasts”.
Have you noticed how many emails you receive from Linkedin advising you that So-And-So has got a new job?
Only to discover they haven’t?
This is because So-And-So has absolutely no idea that every single minor tweak they make to their profile is announced to the world!
Every time So-And-So goes and fixes a typo they’ve discovered after they’ve hit “save”: boom! Linkedin announces it to the world!
Okay – so maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration – maybe not every tweak – but lots of them! And tweaks that don’t need to be broadcast to all and sundry.
Turn off your Activity Broadcasts
It’s quite elementary really – all you have to do is turn OFF your activity broadcasts – here’s how:
- hover over your image – select privacy and settings = manage
- under profile select turn on / off activity broadcasts
- ensure the activity broadcasts is UNticked
- select save changes
It now means you can make updates and tweaks to your profile in relative privacy.
Further – if you’re looking for a job – turning your activity broadcasts off means you’re not letting your boss know you’re suddenly giving your Linkedin profile some TLC.
If we haven’t already – shall we connect on Linkedin…?
I would really enjoy connecting with you at Linkedin. I’d especially like to hear you’re connecting because you read this :).
My Linkedin URL is: https://www.linkedin.com/in/halobizjuliesouth.
If you’re prompted to enter an email address then it’s firstname.lastname@example.org.
FYI, requesting an email address isn’t a stipulation I make of my connections. I like to make it as easy as possible. It will be an imposition Linkedin has applied to your profile (for reasons sometime known only to them).
